Heheh, James, I do stuff like that at the regular check out lines! "Don't you want your --fill in the blank--?" "Nah, just wanted to stand in line to hand you some money!" "Or simply watch you take the cash-back money out of the register and walk away". Lol. And YES on keeping things in exactly the same place all the time. And constantly checking anyway.
Generally, this is "just" an anxiety-producing embarrassment. BUT the last time I thought I lost my wallet... had a full-on -- and I don't mean maybe --public breakdown freak out melt down. Over a good portion of a small town. Horrifying. As a result, my wallet is on a "leash" connected to my bag. Yeah, makes me feel like a dumbass every time I see it, but I never
ever want that to happen again. Of course, it didn't totally cure me. One time realized it was swinging around down by my knee. Yeah. Outside.the.bag. Good grief.
