Texting shortcuts are bad enough in themselves.
When someone uses a phone, the syntax is briefer and less interesting, the errors are blatant and take away from the email or post. When I sense and auto-correction inaccuracy, I generally just skip the email/post.
I'm hearing impaired, so I was quite excited when email became a common way of communicating. It felt so good to have a more level 'playing field' for communication. Now, it's disappointing and not so exciting or useful, even though I do still appreciate having it available.
