My husband went out yesterday morning, came back and told me he voted. Because I've been ill lately, he assumed I was too sick to get up to vote. As passionate as I've been about this election, it baffles me he'd even think that way. He told me he'd stop by later in the day and take me to vote. Our polling place was my former grammar school just four blocks away.

I started thinking about all those days I trudged to school as a kid in brutally cold weather, suffering from a cold/flu and/or completely sleep-deprived. I figured if I could do it then, I can do it now. I also thought about all those people who literally fought and died for the right to vote.

So I grabbed my coat and purse and stumbled up to the polling station all by myself. Fortunately, there was no waiting. However, I managed to make it up there and back without falling, fainting, or becoming disoriented. The struggle/pain actually felt good - proof that my determination and willpower are still intact. When I got home, I had a real sense of accomplishment.

Needless to say, I'm THRILLED with the outcome!!!
