I'm sad to say I don't really have any advice to offer.

But, I can kinda relate. My husband & yours seem to have depression. Mine gets in moods where I can't say anything without him taking it the wrong way. I assume it is because he is depressed, and he can't help it. I try to think of it that way, but I can't help but feel resentment as I've given up a lot for him, too.

My opinion, for what it's worth: You can't make him happy. You need to put your needs first. You can't spend your life giving up what you want for him. Neither of you will be happy, then. He needs to realize himself that he has a problem (insecurity, low self-esteem, depression, whatever it is), and that he needs to work on that.
