When looking at rugs, I look at which ones will tie everything together in the room and be either an accent or a good neutral base. If you have a lot of color, I tend to think a neutral base is better, and if there is less color in the room then a rug with color/accents that will help to make the room pop. I am not good at reading descriptions so I can't really help that much. Also look too at the quality such as the weeve and pile of the rug which can give you an indication of the the thickness for how it will feel underfoot and for durability. If it is online, it can be harder to find this info, but here is a little background in selecting rugs....
