I had a D&C with ablation a few years ago, for thickening of the uterine walls and heavy bleeding due to endometriosis and fibroids. It helped to lighten my period significantly, lessen cramping, and to this day; for a friend, it completely eliminated her menses. I think the stats are still about 50/50 on that.

Mine was done with a general anesthesia. There was some mild cramping and a little light blood flow afterward for a few days, but tolerable with meds that they gave me for afterward. I was warned though because I was still of child bearing age, if I wanted to have children, advised AGAINST doing ablation. D&C is ok but not ablation. It is something to consider if you are interested in becoming pregnant at some point in the future.

I don't know how it would affect the other symptoms of PMDD as the procedure does not affect the hormones in the system, only a birth control pill or gonadotropin releasing hormone/antagonist (GnRH) would be able to help with that and then other things to help with the other symptoms of PMDD. I have other things I have to take for all the other PMDD symptoms. Feel free to PM me.

Only you can know if the procedure is right for you but in my case, the after-effects were worth it for reducing the heavy periods and the pain I was experiencing. I wish you the best in deciding if it is right for you and sending good vibes your way no matter what you decide. ((((((anxiety247)))))))
