Nikki,
Think of how you will feel about it afterwards. Will you be disappointed in yourself, or will someone else be? Weigh the costs and benefits, just like making any decision. I probably shouldn't say this, but sometimes I don't find that the costs outweigh the benefits, and I go ahead and do it, and consider it a rational decision. Sometimes I think that totally forbidding it all at once just puts too much pressure on you and can even make you want to do it more. If you have permission to decide either way, and not to feel bad whatever you decide, maybe just knowing that you have the control and the option, it might actually be easier to decide not to do it. It really doesn't solve anything, but why beat ourselves up about it if it's what we need to do? Just so it doesn't get out of control and make things worse.
