When I was diagnosed I asked to be put on something and they put me on Lamictle which I was allergic to. He wanted to put me on risperidol (sp?) but I was nervous about that one and my husband didn't like that idea. So, I asked to be put on lithium because it's been around forever and side effects are well documented.

The abilify I didn't ask for that but that was pre-diagnosis by about 2 years. After I went off it my OB tried to put me on prozac but I was suspricious that I might have bipolar so I didn't want to take an AD by itself just in case.
