Bebop,
Glad to hear that your Dad made it through the bypass surgery ok. I have found that the 3rd day after a surgery is always the worst day for some reason. It has been true for every surgery I have had & same when my Dad had bypass too.
It starts getting better after that & once the body is on it's own without all the crummy tubes, everything starts getting much better. I know that for my Dad, they had to figure out the right meds to help his heart work right even after the bypass. He had a heart attack before the surgery & they had to wait until he was well enough to have the surgery. That was over 20 years ago, so I am sure they have improved things much more since then. When they did my Dad's surgery, they ran his blood out of his body & back in to bypass the heart while they were doing the surgery.....don't know if they do that anymore. I know my Dad was up the next day sitting in a chair. It is good for the body to move around as soon as possible after the surgery.
Hope everything is continuing well for your Dad.....my prayers are with your dad,
Debbie
