I did the same thing when I put my hand thru a window accidently.

Nerves grow back at the average rate of one inch per month. That's the AVERAGE. Some times they grow back quicker, sometimes slower. Alot depends on where they are, and who the patient is. So be patient. My finger is still numb after MANY years, so obviously there was permanent nerve damage. But it doesn't keep me from using it, or doing anything.
