The difference is I was working on a helpline with minors. Tracking them down by the information they've given and then turning that information over to their local police is not stalking. Stalking involves much more than that. Ministries are required by law to report suicidal minors - the internet makes this more difficult, but as you can see it is still possible.
As for false alerts - the kid probably needs help whether they're actually in danger or not, and alerting their parents to how much information they're releasing online is never a bad thing.
