There is this idea I heard of a few years ago, that things would be better if everyone had a guaranteed income of enough to live on. Without having to work to earn it. People would still be able to work to have income for more than the basics, so life would still go on - but no one would have to wonder if they would be able to get food or not. That, and Medicare for everyone. Get everyone's basic needs met and then watch them flourish. I liked the idea; I just didn't know how to get it paid for.
