HB, it depends on where you are traveling. If you are traveling in the states, I would have just enough on me, in my travel bag, that will get me through 3 days and then fill the rest when I get there.
Is it possible to speak with your doctor and call ahead to a drugstore at your location and have your Rx's filled there? Then you don't have to worry.
If you aren't comfortable with that, definitely keep your Rx's in the original bottles and keep them with you.
When I travelled both domestically and overseas, I had my Rx's in the bottles in my carry-on, and I was fine. I know it's kind of a pain but ...
