Listen, that doesn't sound stupid. Actually quite the opposite, many people who have a problem deny it for yrs and some even beyond. It is very insightful and actually strong on your part to see it for what it is and get help. If you do have an issue. Than you will be saving yourself a lot of trouble and pain further down the line.
Another point, it's not like your saying that your addicted to Lucky Charms. Adderall is part of one of the most addicting classes of meds, amphetamines. And a lot of people who are very bright and intelligent can easily fall into a habit of increasing the dose because it is a physiologically and psychologically very addictive medication. Amphetamine class is in the top 4-5 in that regard. Just by rereading your OP, I can tell you are bright and intuitive enough to know it's not a good thing for you. Yeah, the first thing you want to do is tell your pdoc. I'm sure he/she will start taking you of the med. asap. They might do as a reduction. Depending on how long you have used addies.? What your current avg. daily dose is.? And if you are using the straight ones or the spanules. Which some people crush for the high.
I had a friend who was an amp. user but he was way in deeper than you. He had a psychotic break eventually. He still hasn't learned. He's an internet friend and I met him about 3 1/2 yrs ago. We had lost contact recently. Then I saw him on one of the sites I go to. I was astounded. He is from Belgium and I was always impressed by his English grammar and spelling. And a bit envious, as I am from the states and my spelling and grammar are atrocious
Anyway, he was typing in English or at least trying to. You could barley make out what he was trying to say.I thought that maybe he was drunk or something. But everyday it was the same. It's sad. He was a very bright guy. Who just couldn't stay away from all sorts of nefarious pharmaceuticals.
You know it's an issue when it interferes with your day-to-day living. Also, when you start increasing the dose you take. Also, the feeling of psychosis can be from lack of sleep.
Until you talk to your pdoc please make sure you eat and drink a lot of water. I don't know how your appetite is now. But if you're upping your dose,. there's a good chance that you don't want to eat. If you are at that point, which I have no clue. I just have to say, keep eating. It will be even harder mentally and physically otherwise. Nutrient dense food, protein anything you can munch on. If you have V-8's slam them.
Also, even if you think you can't sleep at least lay down. You may be able to get some rest and try not to increase your dose anymore, k. Call your pdoc today, if you can. Amp. abuse needs to be taken very seriously and to get it out of your system.
Hey, keep me informed or pm or instant message me, if you want someone to talk to. I am a good active listener. Who does care!
