One month ago today, October 22nd, I ended up in the ICU for three days after an especially bad OD. I was told when I woke up on day three that I shouldn't have survived this.
So today I'm thankful for still being here, for being able to spend another thanksgiving with my husband and children.
I'm thankful for my wonderful job that is way too much fun to be called work.
I'm thankful for the house we're moving into next week, and all the money we're going to save. I'm also thankful that they let me keep my dog and both cats.
I'm thankful for the wonderful food bank people, who supplied us with a huge thanksgiving dinner, more than we could ever eat, so we were able to pass some of it on to students without families here.
I'm thankful for the sunshine, the blue sky, the beautiful mountains.

As she draws her final breath
Just beyond the door he'll find her
Taking her hand he softly says
For the first time you can open your eyes
And see the world without your sorrow
Where no one knows the pain you left behind
And all the peace you could never find
Is waiting there to hold and keep you
Welcome to the first day of your life
Just open up your eyes as I lay you down tonight
Safe on the other side
No more tears to cry
