I actually don't recommend that you go through AA while you are coping with grief at the same time. AA will be intense, and it may be too much. Such a time of great stress is not a good time to cut out a familiar coping technique, even if it is an unhealthy one. My advice would be to give it a few weeks before attempting AA.

Above all, though, take your therapist's advice above ours. And hang in there.
