Your signed Request for Records, Form 4885, and proof of your identity has been received. A copy of the adoption record will be placed in line to be printed and will be sent to our legal department for redaction. Redaction is a process where names, addresses, dates of birth, etc. are removed to protect the confidentiality of the parties named. If you are a biological parent, you will only receive the portion of the record prior to the adoption.
After our legal department has completed the redaction process, your record will be mailed to the above address. Due to the number of requests for adoption records received by this office, it may take approximately six months before your record is available.
