It does always seem like money is a first issue.

As far as making it harder on your family...I am not sure of your whole story but...it sounds like you are a caring and loving part of that family. When one family member is hurting the others often gather around and support that person. Willing to give and/or do without for a while to help that person.

So I am thinking that even if it's a bit harder for a while they will adapt and feel better for being able to give something back to the person who cares for them.
