If you are ever stuck in a bad situation abroad, contact your embassy or consulate for help. They can be very helpful.
Years ago, I was in Russia on holiday, and I fell and broke my ankle. I wound up in hospital, and wound up being in hospital past my visa expiration date, which is a big deal in Russia. The Canadian embassy was very helpful in helping me by getting an extension to my visa, and some other things.
