Topamax is an anti-seizure med used to treat epilepsy. How I understand it is that it shuts off or blocks some receptors in your brain (don't quote me). I'm not quite sure how they stumbled upon it for treating migraines though.

I do know that I can experience a migraine without actually feeling the pain. I will have nausea, slurred speech, etc. but only a slight headache. Weird huh?
