Then don't TELL them you're depressed == tell them you're SICK. Depression IS an illness. So you wouldn't be lying. Just tell them you're sick, and leave it at that. If they want to know what you have, just tell them it's not diagnosed, or something.
But depression IS AN ILLNESS.
