I agree - if you need to take a mental health day - take it. I use to have job where we had PTO. I loved it because I didn't feel like a cheat when I took a day off due to depression and exhaustion. Many don't see our depression, and to be frank, many prefer not to. If people don't want to accommodate or address our illness in the work place than at least they can afford us the opportunity to nurse it in comfort and privacy.
