I have heard that children who are overprotected are the ones who end up with learned helplessness. That may be true, but it happens to other people too. I developed that, and I was anything but overprotected--I wish I had been MORE protected. I was ignored and neglected a lot and never taught basic life skills. I learned to turn to prostitution to meet my needs.
