This might sound crazy... But it's not. Even if you look up treatment for anorexia you will see yoga listed as a treatment often. It has proven to be beneficial for all ED's not just anorexia.

I started practicing yoga without that knowledge or intentions of using it for ed treatment. I had out patient treatment which didn't really help me much, I had a dietician at the hospital.. Didn't help much either. When I started yoga it helped so much, I started to notice the differences in my mind towards my body and food quite quickly and that is when I started looking for information on yoga for ed treatment. I have been anorexic since I was a very young child all the way into my 30's. The ways it helped me was by connecting my body and mind, giving me a new appreciation of my body, form and strength. Helping me see my body as something beautiful in it's own right as something to be nourished.. self esteem, being mindful of my body, loosing the strive for perfection and control... It helped in so many ways I can't even list. I have not engaged in anorexic behaviors since, and my mind even tho it may want to go there, I can easily reign it back in now. I have never been able to do that before. I started restricting around 4 years old, saw my first therapist for anorexia at 5, I am 34 now.. so for me it has helped in a huge way.

I do go to a studio, and I do yoga daily, however it is something that doesn't necessarily require money, you can practice it on your own. Tho I find the studio more beneficial because of the support and mindfulness of the other people present. Many studios will let you practice by seva or dana... Which is service or donation.

There are a lot of interesting articles on the subject, those are just a few if anyone is struggling with ED's and are interested in yoga as part of treatment.
