Don't leave until your docs find you are go and ready. It is very common for people to turn around and have to be readmitted because they left too quickly. That won't save you any money.
I know you don't want to go to groups, but I strongly encourage you to reconsider that. Sitting around in your room all day will NOT improve your depression; it will actually make you feel worse. You already know those groups aren't deeply interactive; they are more like lectures and skills groups. Getting out of your room, interacting with not only the other patients, but also with the group leaders is SO helpful, and some of that information you can learn is also really helpful. I think you may be shooting yourself in the foot by refusing those vital services. Psychiatric hospitalization is about SO much more than just getting meds adjusted, and right now not taking advantage of that is leaving you feeling still depressed. Think about it.
