Klonopin gave me my life back. I had been on several other meds that did no good. Luckily I found a psychiatrist who treats only people with panic disorder , and he put me on Klonopin...........in 1990. I am still on it, will be forever, and that does not bother me one bit. One thing I have learned from my own experience, and having worked with clients with PAD for 13 years, it has a long half life, it stays active in your system longer than other benzo's, and really needs to be taken regularly to build up in your system for the maximum benefit. I take a low doseage, and obviously it works - and I have never taken one pill extra in a day than prescribed.
When I first went on it, I slept all day. I would wait several days before upping it, would sleep all day, and get leveled out, then up it again. Once I got used to it, and it was at a constant level in my system, it does not make me sleepy at all - which I could use due to severe insomnia !
Good luck with this med, I hope it works as well for you as it does for me.
There IS life after PANIC.
