I''ve been dealing with this for forever. Today I was talking to my T about whether or not (not!) I would be going "home" for Xmas esp in response to a recent letter from my mother asking me to. It's always, "Do this one thing for me, then you can do whatever you want after, or later." But there is no such thing as later, there is only now. As adults, my parents must have known this - they fooled the child me. It got to be a bad habit. Just this once. Not the way to raise kids. Hope this helps you with your list.
