My boyfriend takes seroquel at bedtime to help him sleep and for racing thoughts. Last night, he took his regular dose but then he decided that he wanted a snack and he ended up not going to bed until an hour later. At that time (an hour after taking the seroquel) he got very upset with me and said some very mean things. This is very unusual behaviour for him. To me, it was like I was dealing with a totally different person. I was trying to reason with him but he was just getting more upset so I left the bedroom. In the morning, he knew that something bad had happened last night but he didn't remember what happened or the mean things he said to me. When I told him what he had said, he felt super bad and explained that "I don't know where that stuff came from. That wasn't me talking."
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? I know seroquel works by basically shutting down the brain... maybe he was basically "asleep" when he said those things? The situation was very distressing to me and I want to avoid a repeat of this in the future.
Cheers.
