Mark - I take a .5 in the AM, and 1 mg at bedtime. Like I said, after it getting in my system at a level amount, I dont have any sleepiness from it. (and wish I did !)(AND - actually I could take it all at once and it would do the same thing, as the half life is 12-48 hours, so once built up in our system, it could all be taken at once. I just do it this way since thats the way it was started.) I dont think weight is a big issue with this particular medication. Everyone is so different in how all medications affect them , like I need 2 X-strength Tylenols for a headache, hubby takes 1......and he is almost twice my size. I dont ever think about what doseage someone else takes, its what works for ME that counts ! I think Doctors who specialize in prescribing benzo's know to start at the lowest dose possible, and build it up gradually until the patient is symptom free. At least, that is how my P--Doc did it, and many I have worked with.
Meta - yes, going off a benzo can be difficult, however it is doable ! Just be sure that you taper it very slowly, and after your other medication has been established at a therapeutic level.
