I don't think I'd have had the guts to get up and walk out. You are tough, and brave.

Was it a mistake to, as you said, let T's problems become your problems? Sure. But it's one thing to make a mistake for the GOOD of another person, to do make a mistake in the service of being loving and generous. That does not make you stupid, and don't let that lawyer's attacks lead you to believe that. The level of selfishness, cruelty, viciousness on the part of your former T is appalling. That she believes that her prior actions and these ad hominem attacks are going to make her look in any way innocent -- never mind a good therapist, or even a good human being, as she is very clearly neither, but at the very least innocent of a crime -- is baffling to me. Trust me, you are NOT the one who looks stupid here.

And I'm no lawyer and know very little about courtroom procedure, but if I were that attorney and did something so egregious that the person on the stand could literally walk out of the room without any reprimand by the judge... I'm pretty sure I'd want to curl up into a ball and die from shame. Doesn't sound like this guy has that problem, but just know that he SHOULD be ashamed. Not you.

Stay strong!
Thanks for this!
