I have not slept since Saturday night which was only for a few hours. I recently started Mirtazapine to solve my sleep issues and it worked for one night...then no longer. Mirtazapine does not have a side effect of insomnia though, so I don't really get it. I don't know what's going on but I need to sleep. It's finals week for me, I really need sleep. I saw my T on monday and told her what was going on, she said to check in with her today and if I had not slept yet then I need to go to the ER (cause I couldn't get an appointment with my pdoc till Thursday). We also called my pdoc and he told me to up the dose of my mirtazapine from 15mg to 30mg. Well, after upping the dose, I still did not sleep last night so I went to see my T and she told me to go to the ER (and even offered to go with me/walk me over ((it's right across the street)) , though I refused being my stubborn, independent, unable to accept help/comfort person).

The ER doc told me to up my Mirtazapine from 30mg to 45mg tonight. Everything I've read about Mirtazapine says that at higher doses the sedation affect DECREASES. Why are these docs suggesting I increase the dose to get some sleep if it reduces sedation?? It doesn't make any sense. I am worried that I won't sleep again tonight and I'm supposed to check in with my T again tomorrow and when I tell her I haven't slept again, I'm afraid she won't believe me cause it's crazy to go over 3 days without sleep.

I am so tired and I am experiencing auditory hallucinations already, I don't want to go any longer and completely lose touch with reality. I'm scared and I just want to sleep...
