meh...I feel sad and a little thrown off.

My pal at work and I were chatting it up right before he left, and he said the new year would be better (we are both struggling right now), and for me to not be "nice" next year. My response:

me, "my mother told me 'you be the nice one. you be the good one'".

him: "don't be so nice."

me: "ummmm, I don't know how to (confused) ... "

him, "break some rules"

me, "ok, you'll be the person that I call from jail"
