You see, you can tell me that your eyes have a purpose:seeing, legs have a purpose:walking, darnnit even your thumb has a purpose!! Yet the whole of you has no purpose?
Than what is the point in living then?

You know what that causes? Suicidal depression.
Thats when the downward spiral of depression starts...questioning what is the point in doing anything anymore, if it is all pointless anyways?

It just equals a bunch of wasted energy, and just tires you even more than you already are.

I hope you don't really mean that, because if you do then you really arent helping those who are depressed and are sucking the hope out of everything.

There is no objective purpose to life, other than to survive and procreate so as to continue on the existence of our species. However, this is not to say that people cannot construct their own purposes. In fact, I daresay that one of the reasons why I get up every morning is because I have an obligation to do just that - I was not born with a pre-prepared path to take or a set of certain goals that I must accomplish by a certain length of time, and therefore I am charged with manually establishing these things myself.
Existence in itself is empty; we, as animals of higher cognitive capacities, have the amazing ability to create meaning out of something that would otherwise be dull and lifeless. We create worlds of our own in our mind, and we can choose to decipher reality and existence in any way we want. Claiming that acknowledging this leads to depression is as ridiculous as saying that an artist should not create paintings, because the canvas was empty to begin with.
