Well I can say that which is more important to you your friend or the guy. I know that if he asked you if you liked him while he was dating your friend that's kind of a red flag because that means that either he really is interested in you, Or he is just a guy who gets around. None the less I would say for you judge the whole situation as such, think about what life would be like without your friend because you may lose her if you go forward.
