We were having a bunch of family members over that I hadn't seen in several months and they all commented on my weight loss, asking what I did and whatnot. It made me feel so uneasy because, really, what am I supposed to answer? I literally did nothing. I spent months barely eating and staying in bed all day... I never worked out or dieted and I couldn't bring myself to lie. I just wanted them to shut up about it and let me be.
Really all you can do is say "thank you" graciously and move the conversation away from that subject. I'm sorry you that depressed. Sometimes, when I try to eat, it gets stuck, as if I just can't swallow. Nothing sounds good and every bite is a challenge.

At times when I can't eat, ensure will sometimes go down more easily. I like the chocolate, but there are other flavors as well. It eliminates the need to search in vain for something on the shelf or in the fridge. Since not eating can make you feel worse, its worth trying. Its best cold.

For some reason, our society says its ok to talk to someone about the weight they have lost, but its taboo to talk about weight that people put on. Its really no one else's business, and they never seem to think that it may be an unwanted loss, or a loss that you weren't trying to get rid of. Be firm. Thank them and move on or tell them that you really don't want to talk about it.
