Illnesses or diagnoses are not "things" that one has or doesn't have; they are more like other intangible objects, "freedom," "friendship," "self-esteem."

You probably have considerable personality disorder traits as well as considerable traits that go with X. Diagnoses in mental health are for the person doing the treating so they have an idea and a plan of what area to work in, what some of the issues for this person might be that they can work on with the person.

If you have a cold an stuffy nose, are you going to blow your nose or take a decongestant? Maybe both, you try one then the other, then both and see what works best for your cold. If you don't have a cold though, have allergies or the flu, does it matter? No, you still have to get that mucous out of your nose/sinuses! :-)
