They kept insisting that it had to be a "bladder spasm" and that I should be catheterized again. I don't know what a bladder spasm feels like, but I do know what it feels like to have your sphincter tighten-up so you can't pee. It was pain at the end of my penis that was causing the involuntary tightening.

I thought my conclusion that they had injured the lining of the urethra, with the uric acid causing the pain, made more sense than their bladder spasm theory.

Regardless, repeating the cycle by catheterizing me again made no sense. At some point you have to take control of your own medical care. My biggest gripe about our medical system is that doctors and their assistants don't really listen to you. Or they immediately assume that the information being conveyed by the patient is inaccurate or immaterial.
