I am not a believer of people having to change to meet other people's unreasonable expectations. If you are trying your best then what else can you give? If you never get the pride you want from your father, this shouldn't reflect on your own views of yourself, as these are more your father's issues than yours. You are who you are, and you should be proud of it.
I hope it makes sense. I am very tired writing this, and I am rubbish at grammar! I had similar with my father, but he just used to say I was useless and only good for getting married and having children. He laughed at me throughout all of my choices in my life, for example, when I got accepted at uni at the age of 23, and didn't think I was seriously thinking of going as it was a waste of time etc.

the way my dad is that he is gonna say that he doesn't realize that he is doing it and he is goanna say that he will stop but he never does. I just want to make him proud. I give everything 110% to make him proud of me and then I get nothing. I joined the fire hall to be closer to him and try and make him proud of me. I do remember he did say he was proud of me. once and that's when I saved my best friends life. but that's it
