Rhapsody--
I would say that from my experience, this behavior is not unusual. I went through the same thing with my ex-wife, except that her cycle was monthly...two weeks on, two weeks off.
By the time we figured out what was going on, it was too late for us...there was simply too much hurt on both sides.
You're the only one who can decide what the right thing to do is...but whatever you do, you don't have to put up with the abuse. It was really liberating when I was able to say out loud to my ex, "You don't get to treat me this way anymore...I don't have to listen to it", and then walk away.
Good luck...I hope things get better for you.
