Anika, that doesn't sound like a good psych unit at all.

There is one quiet room on the unit in the hospital I go to. It is rarely in use. It does have a bed and the few times I've ever been aware of anyone being there, a staff person was assigned to always be sitting right there by the room; usually the door to the room was open and the staff person was sitting at the doorway so they weren't actually locked in. Patients were never in that room very long, just until they were calm enough to return to their regular room or whatever. It is only used in pretty extreme cases where a patient became physically out of control.

Have you explored what other hospitals are in your area so in the event you need that kind of treatment in the future you have a better option?
