This is strictly a suggestion, mind you, your mileage may vary, however, something I've found that often works for me is to eliminate as many distractions as possible and just sit and listen to loud music. For some reason, it focuses my attention without the accompanying franticness (is that a word?) that goes with being actively into something. As has been said, music hath charms to sooth the savage breast. It really seems to be true in my case. I hope it helps you too.
