This is going to be a very very long road back. Sadly (and completely unfairly) this whole mess gets dropped in your lap to fix.

Your therapist, in my opinion, can do very little to repair the relationship. He can never be perfect enough to fix this. Each little mistake will certainly evoke that feeling of betrayal. That work to forgive has to come from you.

I wish for you wisdom as you navigate this decision. I think you are showing a tremendous amount already by sort of stepping back and evaluating things.
