Seems that more and more the people I have lost are young... my daughter 16 and two brothers, each at 39. One of my closest current friends is battling pancreatic cancer at 40.
I think what it continues to teach me is that there are no promises for a tomorrow. So you have to do what you need to do today.
My husband and I are trying to live by that philosophy. Save for tomorrow, because there might be one, but live for today. I have to admit that with that we go on better vacations than we used to. At the same time, if we die tomorrow, our teenage daughter will have a healthy retirement with which to buy her first house.
