I believe with Lunesta there are higher dosage options inlucing a 3mg tablet. Have you tried Ambien/Ambien CR? 10-20mg range works well for tough insomnia. .Sonata is another like Ambien - but doesn't work as well in my opinion.

Rozerem is another sleep med unrelated to benzos and meds like Ambien and Lunesta. It targets specific melatonin receptors. It may be worth a try.
