I have been taking Suboxone for nearly four years now. My pdoc said 2 months ago since my life has finally settled down, and most of my stress is gone, that he was going to start weaning me off the medication. He was supposed to start this past month when I went for my appointment, but decided to wait another month. I had to switch to seeing him from the PA I was seeing for almost 6 years because they found out my former doc wasn't actually allowed to write prescriptions for Suboxone. So when I started seeing him, one of the first questions he asked was, "Have you thought about getting off of the medicine?" Of course I have. Now I'm beginning to worry he's never going to start getting me off of it. It's like I traded one addiction for another. If he doesn't start this month when I go, should I go ahead and start weaning myself off of it? I no longer feel the need to take it, it's just the physical effects I will feel without it.
