Thank you all so much for the kind words. It was beyond awful. This dog has gone from being a pet to being trained as a service animal which makes the distinction quite different. Animals aren't humans but this was similar to having a child snatched. Total shock and then fearless anger at the idea someone would do this and how to find them!!

Safe hugs for you! ((((((((zh)))))))))

I'm so very sorry that happened. Just from past posting, I think I have an understanding of how very much your pet means to you.

I grateful for the happy ending, and those beautiful women, but can imagine the panic and absolute fear for that time.

I'm glad all is well.

still trying to figure out if this was fluke due to area parked in or if this is how things are now. in five years there hasn't been any altercations through the vehicle window w/ dog. perhaps if the dog was more protective of the car as traveling den space.... as that isn't the case we'll look into those grates one rolls the windows up on so that air flows through but hands and arms cannot get in or remove the grates. such a hassle but potentially necessary after last week's ordeal.

I can't imagine why someone would do that.

wanted to collapse into puddle onto sidewalk and wail about wtf was up with this! but that wouldn't have helped other than a few moments of release for us. yeah it was difficult remaining "calm" enough to relate to other ppl just what happened and whether or not they had seen dog, person and dog, or anything even resembling dog. as for the rollercoaster? yeah just about threw up after about ten minutes with no dog. at that time of day in that city with the amount of traffic on a Friday there was not much hope flowing through our veins. as for the why would someone? guess below....

bless you for being an animal hero! you know the scene of reunion and how it cannot be faked!! these ladies who had rescued our dog were angels. they left messages on three of the four numbers on the tags on the collar. they knew by the out of area tags that the owner must be in the city for business and to wait a while to see if owner shows.

we're so relieved that there are ppl like you lavendersteph who would take the time to find the owner of a lost animal. that is replenishing of our lost hope to know another person would do that for a stranger. bless you for sharing that and giving us more hope to carry. one can never have enough hope!

I really HATE/fear thinking someone would just do that for kicks or to be mean. No matter why they did it I am sorry you had to endure that and so pleased to see you got your dog back

that is the only thing that makes sense is someone who thought they were doing a good deed but it went oh so wrong! when we say shade we're not saying a little patch of tree shade but full bldg shade that isn't going away at that time of day. dog always has a travel bowl of water in vehicle available.

brother was reminding us that this city isn't the best in the area and there are lots of freaky ppl who do crazy things for no reason. perhaps someone loopy just decided to reach in the window and open the door to set free the hound?

dunno and won't ever really know. just grateful to still have service dog at our side as we go out and about to run errands and drive hundreds of miles today.

thanks again all for the kindness......can't believe how much this has floored us. then again five years of a right hand dog and the idea of that suddenly being over? no thanks! dogs live forever, right? w00f!
