You aren't stupid at all, Mr.V. I can assure you of that!
Several years ago, when I was in college, I took a memory class. We discovered 5 different learning styles ~ apparently, that's been changed to 7. Most courses are aimed towards the majority of learners: linguistic and mathematical. However, these other styles in which people learn (and later recall) do exist. Discovering what style/s that you lean towards can be very helpful in getting the information through to your memory!
The Seven Learning Styles
Visual (spatial):You prefer using pictures, images, and spatial understanding.
Aural (auditory-musical): You prefer using sound and music.
Verbal (linguistic): You prefer using words, both in speech and writing.
Physical (kinesthetic): You prefer using your body, hands and sense of touch.
Logical (mathematical): You prefer using logic, reasoning and systems.
Social (interpersonal): You prefer to learn in groups or with other people.
Solitary (intrapersonal): You prefer to work alone and use self-study.

There is a test on that site that supposedly helps you determine your personal learning style. It's certainly worth taking a look at! When I was in that memory class, we took a test that helped us discover our best learning styles as well. At the time, I was almost completely linguistic. I have changed since then, so I am a bit curious what that test would now determine my preferred learning style to be.
I just now saw that stratocaster basically said the same thing! LOL

There you go ~ it must be something you ought to try!

Best wishes to you....
