I remember him (and the guy on medical center) giving people "orders" and tricking/bullying them into doing what he wanted them to do, and acting like he knew what was best. I can see where he could appear kind, I just always hated people trying to make decisions for me/my best interest etc that I did not like and the idea they could still do it even with adults always unsettled me. Two of the bigger conflicts with my parents about tv (as opposed to other things) was once when I was in support of the "hippies" and not the cops during some show (I got in trouble for not being on the side of the abusive authority figures on television) (pre-curser to being a public defender) and another time during a medical show when I wanted them to let someone who wanted to die do so (the mds wheedled, tricked, threatened and drugged the guy until he acquiesced to some treatment he had objected to earlier (I was between 8-11 yrs old at the time and I cannot remember what either show or if they were movies on tv - names or were otherwise about)(I do remember them being quite unglued at me)
Welby and Medical Center came on later at night and when they first came on, were past my bedtime.
