Being able to talk about what's bothering me sometimes helps me to figure out a solution on my own ... Other times the therapist can provide input and insight that I've overlooked which helps me to come up with a solution ... Other times it helps me to work through some painful things while having the support of an empathetic and compassionate ear.
I can then draw on the things I've learned to help me work through future issues ... Then, if I find myself stuck again, I can always go back in for a "tune up" ... Which is what I like to call it because I know I can count on them to help me through the rough patches and show me new skills to utilize over and over again.
