If you ever got paid for something, that counts as a job. I was commissioned to do a bunch of paintings for a coffee shop near my high school. I also sold some hand-made items. I put in my resume that I was an entrepreneur, and explained that I sold my art. If you played professionally in a band, you probably made more than I did, haha. My parents wouldn't let me work in high school either and didn't want me working while I was in college. But I moved out of the house at 18 when I left for college, and that next summer I got my first job. I just explained on my application that I hadn't had a job before because I'd been putting all my focus on my studies. They generally see that as being responsible and employers do like educated people.
It is very unlikely that you'll be "interrogated" the second you submit your application and resume. However, if you
really want a job, then you will have to expect to be put on the spot at some point unless you want to work in a warehouse or factory.
What helped me (because i can't stand talking to people or being put on the spot either) was I pretended I was someone else and put on my "business" mode, haha. It worked perfectly until I got more comfortable with the people. The business side of me is very cold and calculated but I do what needs to be done. I just have to shove my anxiety and self-confidence issues to the back of my mind. This is just what worked for me. Not saying it would work for everyone, or that it even still works for me. I can't even call my own grandmother on the phone anymore. But anyway...
